It was in the middle of this unusually hot and dry summer when Will and I had an opportunity to drop everything and go to our favorite spot and catch some wild trout.
We were both desperate to get out and get away. We had an open afternoon and we took the green light to go recharge.
We knew there was a chance for rain but had no idea of what was to come.
When we got closer to the main turnoff some ominous clouds popped up. We saw horizontal sheets of rain ahead and soon the truck was rocking with 60+ mile per hour winds and golfball sized hail. The only wise thing to do at that point was to keep on and head to the shelter of the put in.
We waited out the worst of it and got geared up.
Fishing the first half of our time in the water in rain that we hardly noticed. Just wading in the water provided refreshment but catching the beautiful wild trout was absolutely serene.
After just a few hours it was time to go but we felt ready.
I sure do love the Ozarks.

Man, that was a killer day. "Exploding signs"...I still remember the look on the host's face. Thanks again for the loaner flies; I would have skunked.
ReplyDeleteNice report..it's been too long since my feet have been in a spring-fed stream surrounded by trout. Can't beat a day on a small stream catching wild trout , that's living right!

Hey Jeff, you're absolutely right - can't beat it!
ReplyDeleteWill, anytime!
